The Food Week That Was – Eating Away in Bandra

Back again, after a long hiatus, another episode of The Food Week That Was. The best (and the worst), of the meals that comprised my week. Featuring two Bandra restaurants this week – one old, and another new. Read on!

Eat Around the Corner Women’s Week Celebrations:

Even though, I’m against the whole concept of Women’s day, I made an exception to go celebrate Women’s Week with fellow women from the food industry at one of my favorite spots in Bandra – Eat Around the Corner (EATC).  EATC evokes happy memories the minute I step inside. Formerly known as Just Around The Corner, I’ve spent hours here sipping my coffee, piling on heaps of salad from their salad bar, and saving my pocket money so that I could splurge on their massive chocolate brownies. The look and the feel of the place has definitely changed from a youth-centric space to a far more mature target audience, but the food remains just the same.

All Good Scents – Pocket Friendly Perfumes

Buying a good perfume usually involves compromising on either your budget, or the quality of the scent. The really good fragrances from really good brands don’t come cheap without pinching your pocket. Most of the relatively inexpensive ones can make you end up smelling of beets. (I’m quoting Phoebe from that episode of FRIENDS. Remember?) Looking for a trade-off between a good quality fragrance and the price? All Good Scents may be the answer!

I found the All Good Scents website when I ordered and reviewed the MSM box. (What is the MSM box? Click here to find out). All Good Scents is an online store that retails fragrances for men and women, under their label. Most of their fragrances fall in the price bracket of Rs. 750-1500/-, which is extremely reasonable in my opinion. Their fragrances are all made in France and are not tested on animals, which is a huge plus point for me. I ordered the Chic Eau de Toilette from their Esssential range recently, and here is what I liked and disliked about my overall experience.

My Granny’s Prawn Patio Recipe – The Lazy and Easy Version

Meat and seafood is integral to Parsi cooking, so much so that we consider eggs as vegetarian. If you’re a Parsi or know one closely, you’ve grown up eating Mora Dal Chawal with Prawn Patio. Roughly translated to yellow dal rice with a sweet-spicy tomato based prawn dish. The patio serves as a pickle and provides heat, to the staple dal rice combo.

Each family has their own version of a Prawn Patio, some more complicated than the other. I belong to a family of lazy cooks, and this patio version that my granny came up with is really the easiest to make. It may not be as authentic or complicated as a lot of the other Patio recipes but to me it tastes just as good as any other.

Product Review: Seafood and Meat Co.

Aah, the ease of living in the twenty-first century. Everything is available online, right from booking peons to get your work done, to getting clothes designed. And on the food front there’s a huge boom. Buy your groceries, compare vegetable prices, and even get recipe kits delivered to your doorstep. My latest find is Seafood and Meat Co. – an online portal delivering what else, but seafood and meat of every kind!

The company was launched with the idea to become a one stop stop for all your non-vegetarian food needs, ensuring safety, hygiene and prompt delivery. I recently ordered some medium sized prawns and spicy chorizo from them, and here’s what I liked and disliked about my overall experience right from ordering on the website, to cooking with their products.

The MSM Box – The Latest Beauty Box to Hit the Market

I’m a beauty bag/box addict. Getting a box of goodies home, and having no clue what lies in them, thrills me to no extent. It’s like a surprise gift to myself! Inspite of still having beauty and make up samples left over from the previous beauty bag subscription (Re:The Fab Bag) I decided to take the leap and subscribe to yet another one – The MSM Box!

What? The My Style Mile or the MSM box, started by a fellow- blogger is the latest beauty box to hit the nation. They have an Express box (priced at Rs. 495/-) and a Select version (Rs. 995/-) where the difference between the two is the brands being featured, with the latter having more high end products, justifying the price difference.

Why? Because you’re tired of buying full sized beauty products, and then don’t end up using them. Also, it’s a really convenient way to try newer brands without breaking the bank.
